What is a tipping fee?

The tipping fee is the per-ton charge a disposal facility levies to take what is in the can. It is usually the largest single variable cost in a pull and it is set by the facility, not by you.

What it costs

The national average landfill tipping fee was reported at $62.28 per ton in a 2024 survey of 351 facilities by the Environmental Research and Education Foundation, with wide regional spread. A 3-ton load at that average is roughly $187 before fuel or labor.

When it comes up

Every pull. It is why "dump fee included" pricing is a real commitment rather than a marketing line, and why operators bill overage above an included tonnage.
