Google Ads or SEO
for a dumpster company?
We only do organic, so read this knowing that. Every number below is sourced, including the ones that favor ads.
Ads rent you clicks for as long as you pay. Organic work keeps paying after you stop. If your trucks have idle days, start with your Google profile, your reviews and a page for each town you serve. Add ads to fill gaps, if you want them.
What Google Ads costs a dumpster company
Nobody publishes a measured cost per click for dumpster rental. We looked. The closest category is Home & Home Improvement: a median of $8.33 a click and $90.92 a lead, across 13,474 US search campaigns from April 2025 to March 2026 (WordStream and LocaliQ, 2026 Google Ads benchmarks).
At that rate, 10 leads a month is about $909 in ad spend, before anyone is paid to manage it. And a lead is not a booked job.
Can a dumpster company use Local Services Ads?
Not as dumpster rental. Google's US list of Local Services Ads categories includes junk removal, but not dumpster rental or roll-off (Google, Local Services Ads help). If you also haul junk, that category is open to you.
Where it applies, you pay per lead, and the price depends partly on what similar businesses near you bid for the same lead (Google, how leads work).
Where the clicks go
Of US Google searches that led to a click in early 2026, 66.6% of clicks went to organic results and 6% to ads. The rest went to Google's own properties, such as Maps and YouTube (SparkToro and Similarweb, January to April 2026).
That covers every kind of search, not only local ones, so read it as the shape rather than your number.
What ads cannot do
- Move your rankings. Google says running ads "has no impact on where your website appears in organic search results" (Google Ads help).
- Put you in ChatGPT's answer. ChatGPT shows ads to some users, below its answers, and OpenAI says ads do not influence the answers themselves (OpenAI Help Center). The answer leans on your Google profile and your Yelp listing. How AI answers pick a company.
- Keep working when you stop paying. Pages, reviews and a filled-in profile stay. An ad stops the day the budget does.
When ads do make sense
- You are brand new, with no reviews yet, and need calls this month.
- You want to test a town you cannot rank in yet.
- A slow week needs filling, and you can switch spend on and off.
If that is you, run ads alongside the organic work, not instead of it.
Facebook ads or Google Ads?
Google shows your ad to someone searching for a dumpster right now. Facebook shows it to people who were not looking. For a bin someone needs this week, the person searching is the one to reach.
Why we only do organic
Every result we can show came from organic work: the profile, the reviews, the pages. So it is all we sell. If you want ads as well, hire an ads specialist; the organic work keeps paying either way. See the results.
Common questions
How much do Google Ads cost for a dumpster rental company?
Nobody publishes a measured figure for dumpster rental. In the closest category, Home & Home Improvement, the median was $8.33 a click and $90.92 a lead across 13,474 US search campaigns (WordStream and LocaliQ, 2026 Google Ads benchmarks, April 2025 to March 2026). Your town may be cheaper or much dearer.
Is dumpster rental eligible for Google Local Services Ads?
Not in the US list of Local Services Ads categories Google publishes. Junk removal is on it; dumpster rental and roll-off are not. If you also haul junk, that category is open to you.
Is SEO or Google Ads better for a new dumpster rental company?
Ads can bring calls this month. Organic work keeps bringing them after you stop paying. Start the organic side on day one, because it is slow to build, and use ads only to cover the gap while it does.
Do Google Ads help my Google Maps ranking?
No. Google says running ads has no impact on where your website appears in organic search results.
